Comment South Dakota has hundreds of millions of dollars worth of various sales tax exemptions which increase the tax rate for the things that are taxed. I believe reducing the exemptions should be looked at, since food is a necessity and exempting it would benefit everybody especially those with lower incomes; I would support exempting food from tax. I would not necessarily support exempting clothes from tax.
