R House Kyle Schoenfish – Support
Comment As a tax preparer I see first hand the costs of health insurance and medical expenses. The cost of uncompensated care is passed on to those with private insurance, the cost of indigent care is paid for by taxpayers at the county level, Medicaid expansion would greatly reduce those costs. It would promote preventative care which is much cheaper than treating certain health condition later on.

Comment I am personally opposed to usury as a Christian; however, as a young Marine in 1986, I counted myself fortunate when Sears gave me a high interest line of credit which allowed me to purchase a TV, and VCR for my poor little family as we lived in near poverty conditions in a converted garage in Barstow, Ca. As a free-market conservative Republican, who believes in personal responsibility and limited-government, I am loath to have government intervene in a business arraignment [sic] between two willing parties.

Comment In 1992, I was intentionally assaulted (run over) by a criminal in a car who I was in the process of apprehending. Amongst his crimes was dealing marijuana. I will suffer from those injuries to the day I die. Additionally, I conducted countless drug interdiction and criminal investigations over my career. I have never used illigal drugs and I confess that my personal feelings are bereft of any humor for such illicit activity. I am opposed to wholesale legalization of marijuana and oppose California wholesale style medical legalization of marijuana. My predjudices aside, I do believe that careful consideration as to the punishments for user amount possession and use should be revisited with an eye towards reduction in severity of punishments. I support stringent driving under the influence enforcement, and support prohibitions for being under the influence while on the job. I can see myself supporting legal access to medical marijuana in rare specific circumstances such as relief sought by terminal cancer patients. It is also my understanding that certain oils may show promise to provide relief to children suffering from severe and potentially life-threatening seizures, which if true, I would be inclined to support.
