Ron Weifenbach
My mother had come from Germany, living through WWII, to the United States in 1959 with my oldest sister and pregnant with my next sister. My father was finishing his military service, and my mother was to spend the next seven years learning new customs and becoming a United States Citizen. This was the beginning of life for our family. In 1970 my family moved to Rapid City where we would make our roots. Life in Rapid City was financially challenging for our family, but we learned the values of God, Family and Friends coming together for the better good of the entire community. June 9th, 1972, our community was challenged with the aftermath of a historic flood that would forever shape our city and my commitment to the strength of a community and understanding the role of government and citizens of our community. The government stepped up in a role of to re-establish water supplies, infrastructure, Policeman, fireman the SD army national Guard provided safety and basic services to bring a level of basic functionality to basic services. Volunteers and churches from the community came together leaving ideology behind with only one purpose, which was to serve the common good of those in need. I went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Black Hills State university, an MBA from Chadron State, I served 8 years in the SD Army National Guard, I hold an inactive CPA license and have earned a degree from the school of hard knocks. I have 4 terms serving on the city council with many successes participating in the process of bringing city projects to fruition including the Soccer complex, tennis courts, recreational ice arena, hiking and biking trails to name a few but I a most proud of participating in securing water rights from Pactola Reservoir, throughout the community and securing clean water for future generations with the building of Jackson Springs. I have extensive business experience for large National corporations starting and operations business operations and I also have extensive business ownership experience. My combination of wisdom, education, business experience and government experience combined with my ability to get things done make me uniquely qualified to be your next Mayor. Community Endorsement: “I have been married to Ron for over 37 years. He has been a consistent role model for our daughters and young women he has coached and mentored throughout the years. He is compassionate, he listens well and is always willing to help others. As your mayor, he will hold” (word limit) Penny J Weifenbach

Now more than ever, we need to elect people who are rooted in what really matters. While the world may be confused about what values to live by, I am not. My life is built on God, family, country, and Rapid City. It’s one thing to write that, but as you will see, it’s also reflected in my life. I am first, and foremost, a man of God. I’m unafraid and unashamed to declare that Jesus Christ is Lord and I’m so grateful for His amazing grace. I’m a family man. God blessed me big time with a wonderful family. My wife Gwyn and I have two adult children, Reece and Regan. My son recently completed his enlistment in the U.S. Army. My daughter attends Black Hills State University majoring in education. They are both happily married. Leadership matters. I’m grateful to draw from a wide range of leadership experiences including being a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving as Vice President of Operations and Strategic Services at Black Hills Federal Credit Union, and in my current role as Executive Pastor for Fountain Springs Church where I oversee the staff and operations. Combined with my six years on the City Council, including as Council President, I hope you agree I am uniquely equipped to help lead Rapid City forward during this pivotal time. Whoever we elect must be able to wear many hats. The mayor needs to lead at an executive level as CEO of the city. I served as a business executive with a proven track record of success. The mayor needs to protect and keep watch over the city. I served my country in the Armed Forces and pledged my life to defend our freedoms. The mayor needs to shepherd a community when times are tough. I served in ministry and have helped our community keep our eyes on what really matters during good times and in bad. It’s my rare blend of leading and serving in the military, ministry, and marketplace that sets me apart in this race. No one is more well-rounded and ready to serve. With God’s help, we will seek the peace and prosperity of our community. I believe greater things are in store and it would be my honor to serve as the next mayor of Rapid City. I appreciate your support and vote on June 6. Thank you! Community Endorsement: "I met Jason while serving on the Leadership Rapid City board and encouraged me to participate in Leadership South Dakota, as he had. Jason encourages and inspires others, always focusing on their strengths. He listens to others, is confident in his beliefs and decisions, and is a man of integrity." Melanie Torno
