What are your top 2 priorities if elected? What is the proper role of Government?

Why are you the best candidate for the job?

My competitor’s initiative is out of focus. He wants to keep the “momentum” going, but this is the direction of the momentum: the quality of our schools is declining; the buildings are in poor shape; enrollment is declining; and we are losing good teachers due to behavioral problems in the classroom and low pay while the upper echelons of school administration recieve significant pay raises. RCASD teacher salaries are approximately 24% below the national average. These are markers of a defect—not a success—in how our schools are run.

My competitor wants to keep this momentum going, but I think it’s time to change course.

I taught in the public schools for 31 years, spending 29 of those years in RCAS, and I believe in the capabaility of the public schools. I know where our schools are the weakest, and I’ve seen and experienced our schools when they were much stronger—when they were proud indicators of a promising school district. My competitor doesn’t have the history that I do in this community.

When elected to school board, I promise to do my research on these issues and to always seek out what is best for our community, teachers, and, most importantly, our students.

If you want to help revive education, I need your support. I believe we can do better for our kids and for our community, and if you believe that too, then we can start to make a change.
