Rich Ward III
If elected to the Council / Commission, what will your top priorities be in office?
If elected to the Council, my primary focus will be on strategic investments and sustainable developments to secure a resilient future for Aberdeen.
Firstly, by partnering with local entities, we will enhance our water infrastructure to ensure a reliable supply for the next 25-50 years, while also upgrading our sanitation facilities to maintain water quality and public health.
Additionally, I will also prioritize & support local law enforcement, encouraging cooperation between our local police and the highway patrol, ensuring these entities work synergistically to enhance safety and efficiency.
Finally, I am committed to revitalizing Downtown Main Street, transforming it into a vibrant, welcoming hub of activity that attracts both residents and visitors alike.
These efforts will not only boost our local economy but also strengthen community ties & ensure we can meet future growth, making Aberdeen a more engaging and enjoyable place to live, work, and play.
How would you define the proper role of government, and how would you apply this to your role on the Council / Commission?
The city government is the closest to the people & should serve as a steward of the community’s voice, ensuring that local policies reflect the aspirations and concerns of its residents. I believe it’s about striking a balance between leadership and service, steering while also supporting.
In my role on the Council, I will apply this perspective by establishing open, ongoing channels of communication with Aberdeen’s citizens. This involves not just listening but actively seeking out input through community meetings and social engagement.
I aim to continue to support a responsive government that adapts to the changing needs of the community while also upholding transparency, fiscal responsibility, and efficient project management.
Every policy & decision brought to the table will be considered through the lens of how it serves the common good, ensuring that government actions are always grounded in the best interests of those we serve.
