Amendment I

Medicaid Funding Adjustment

A measure to allow funding adjustments in South Dakota in the event that the federal government backs out of their funding commitment. Proponents of the measure argue that it is fiscally responsible and ensures South Dakota won’t go bankrupt if the federal government changes their mind. Opponents of the measure believe that changes should not be made to the system.

Amendment J

Citizenship Voting Requirement

A measure to require that a person be a United States Citizen to vote in South Dakota. Proponents argue this is a needed safeguard, while opponents claim it creates problems.

Amendment K

Unclaimed Property Trust Fund

A measure to create a permanent trust fund for unclaimed property dollars. Proponents argue this ensures citizens always have access to the funds that are rightfully theirs. Opponents did not submit a statement to the Secretary of State.

Amendment L

60% Vote Threshold 

This measure has been endorsed by SD Family Voice Action

A measure to place stronger protections on our South Dakota Constitution. Currently, a simple majority vote could remove key protections found in our Constitution. Here in our state we have seen out-of-state dollars attempt to change election results, often engaging in deceptive advertising. This threshold ensures that amendments to our constitution are made with careful consideration, while retaining the clear ability to make future amendments.
