2026 SD Commissioner of School and Public Lands Race
Brock Greenfield – R
What are your top 2 priorities if elected?
What is the proper role of Government?
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
As your current Commissioner and a former legislator, I bring many years of experience and a long history of working with people to overcome challenges and solve problems. My office has set new records each of the past three years in terms of the apportionments we send out to the schools and other entities we serve, thus meeting and exceeding our fiduciary responsibilities. We have a proven record of strong results and steady leadership that benefits school children along with every land class beneficiary under our purview and every taxpayer in South Dakota. While our focus is the management of over 760,000 surface acres and 5.5 million subsurface mineral acres, we are also charged with maintaining and repairing 97 State-owned dams, and by virtue of my position, I serve as an ex officio, voting member of the Board of Appraisal, the Board of Finance, the Weed and Pest Commission, and the SD Investment Council. With only six employees, we have to be nimble, responsive, respectful, efficient, and effective. My entire team is comprised of people who genuinely want to serve. Working for the people of South Dakota is a blessing, and I would really appreciate your vote and your continued support as I do this important work for every South Dakotan.
In what ways do you stand out from your competitor?
I do not know my opponent, but my campaign is not about her. It is about what I have to offer the people of South Dakota. I am a Christian, and I take my job responsibilities very seriously. I pray about decisions I have to make, and I try to be obedient to the Lord’s will. I believe strongly in being transparent and accountable to the people of South Dakota. I have built countless important relationships with people all across the state, as well as the legislators and members of the administration I have to work with in order to make South Dakota a better place to live, work, and raise families. My philosophy is to make solid, common-sense decisions that are consistent with my faith and with South Dakota values and priorities. I believe in surrounding myself with people who are smarter and more talented than I am and then honoring and embracing the talents and opinions of my team. Together, we have experienced many successes, and I believe we have served the State of South Dakota well.
